CNN.com is now carrying the Khan blown cover story front and center. There are several different threads working through the news right now about this. For example, the British Home Secretary has come out indirectly criticizing the U.S. on how terror intelligence is handled. Another thread is the “Who leaked it” story, which right now points at Condi Rice, by her own admission on TV. What’s even more surprising is that she claims that she didn’t know the Pakistanis were still using Khan as a double. There are a number of credible claims that the U.S. has a strong presence in Pakistan; if we do, how can Rice credibly claim she wasn’t aware of a major agent? If she really was unaware because of compartmentalization, maybe that’s a clue that names shouldn’t be bandied about before checking with the agency running the agent?
