Ok, so most of you know I live near the fleet center, soon to be home of the up and coming DNC here in boston. Everyone keeps asking me if I am worried about extravaganza, or if I will be able to leave my apt and fight my way through the various barriers they will be putting up. I am not that concerned to be honest, though I get a lot of informative fliers trying to make me concerned under my door each day. Anyhow, I have a friend who is lucky enough to work right there in midst of things, and this is part of an email he just recieved… pretty amusing:

It is also suggested that you have the following items available to you
in the office in case you are unable to leave for an extended period of
time:

-Non perishable food stored for emergency use - also keep in mind that
the Causeway Cafe will be open, but will likely be busy with all of the new
tenants
- Personal hygiene products
- Extra dosages of medications (if required)
- Anything you feel you may need if you were unable to leave the
building for an extended period of time
- Perhaps a flashlight and battery operated radio in the event of power
outage

I love the part about making sure you have personal hygiene products. I guess it is good to be preparing for the worst, but I think that if I am stuck in a building for a period of time where personal hygiene starts to be an issue, that won’t be my first concern….
