Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

So I had this stack of cd’s that a friend had lent me sitting on my top of my TV, just waiting for me to get around to listening to them, and since they eventually must be returned, I finally burned/listened to them last night. Low and behold, I am now insanely addicted to this once cd “Since I Left You” by The Avalanches. It is sort of a upbeat disco like sound.Listen here! I really love the first three songs.
