So a while ago, Sujal posted an interesting slashdot reference that analyized the classic buisness school example of the DeBeers empire. Bascially how the manipulate the price and women in the US to believe that diamonds are the only way to say I love you, and make us believe that they will truely “grow in value” as they age. This is all sort of a farce, since no jewlery store will buy back the diamond ring after it is purchased (just try it at Tiffanys), and actually there are very few places that will indeed purchase your ring. If they do, then you will not get much for it. Anyhow, looking at fark.com, looks like the DeBeers empire is back in business here in the US. will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Love the bass line, and really love that the gunshots were taken out of the track. Really never liked the gunshots in the album version anyway.

oh — sometimes I get the “mean reds”. I guess I can’t help but be a product of my culture. I once went to Tiffany’s a few years ago, and I swear I wanted to run around with a registry gun and go nuts!!!

It’s all in the marketing!! My fave now is the “left hand” ring they are markting to older, single women. You know.. women who don’t have a “special someone”. Let’s call it what is.. a consolation ring. Or a “fuck you buddy.. I’ll buy my own damn ring”. Nothing wrong with that.. I bought one myself! Let’s just call it what it is, that’s all I ask!
