Tried something especially cool this past weekend: Chocolate Jalapeno Gelato. I had this at Tisane on Saturday night. It was so good… it essentially tasted like chocolate Gelato with a surprise kick as an aftertaste. Basically when your tastebuds unfreeze from the the ice cream, you can taste the little bits of Jalapeno in the gelato. Amazing idea, having a spicy desert. ![]()

Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

I didn’t have anywhere to post this… having to find connections, etc…yada yada yada…bygones.
I found this quite interesting:
http://channels.netscape.com/ns/homerealestate/package.jsp?name=fte/junkfood/junkfood&floc=wn-np
Now what if I like all of them, does that make me a “flirt, with great integrity and high moral values, that is aggressive and a real go getter, who is a crazed perfectionist, that in the end is the life of the party”? and what about all of the junk foods I like that they didn’t list? what does that say about me?
Damn junk food… why did you become so controversial? What ever happened to Homer Simpsons famed lione “It must be true, the cookie told me so.”
ARGH… whatever will I do? People will condemn me and analyze me from the junk food I eat… damn progress!!! when is enough, enough already?!
Oh well, of to eat some funions!… (because they didn’t make the list)

Follow up, (testing a theory)
I went to a function last night where there were many options for snacks set out… vegetables, tortilla chips, regular chips, plus appetizers, etc…
The people who ate chips were definitely aggressive BUT… and here is the interesting, those who ate the veggies were equal to or more so aggressive then the chip eaters.
I think the study needs to be adapted to include types of dip. Could chip eaters be aggressive because they are packing away Onion Dip, which includes part oif a veggie and a dairy product… could it actually be the dip that or the veggie content that creates aggressive behavior? Because the perfectionist were the tortilla chips people and if they were eating sals which is a veggie dip, well that might explain something to me…
Because as the study pointed out, you normally wouldn’t put dip on pretzels, cheese puffs, and beef jerky… and there wasn’t an aggressive trait in sight….
I know this is a stupid study to get wrapped up in, but for arguments sake… it can surely turn some of those boring work parties and family/acquaintaince parties into a fun spectator sport.
