The Pistons have just killed the Lakers 100-87, to win the Championship Series. As a long time Detroit resident (14 days now), I have to cheer for the home team. Hopefully no one will riot.
This has been a serious demolition of the Lakers. It has been fun to watch on local TV (and hear all my neighbors scream simultaneously when the Pistons score). What is even better is that EVERYONE who “knows” sports has been wrong. What a great underdog series and it left the Lakers dumb founded.
My heartfelt sympathies to Karl Malone. Sorry buddy, but you should have bowed out when Stockton did. Instead, you have just embarrassed yourself in your obvious quest for the title you couldn’t get with the Jazz. Too bad….traitor.
Shaq: Get a clue. You don’t need the ball more.
Kobe: So much for the guarantee, eh? Get a clue too.
Ben Wallace: Love the hair. Don’t even change. I might even try to grow my hair to match.
Again Congratulations to the Detroit Pistons, the 2004 NBA Champions. You guys flat out beat the Lakers, against all predictions. Hear! Hear!
And please don’t riot Detroit. Please!?
Addendum: The first commercial after the game was a PSA from Ben Wallace saying, “Celebrate with Dignity.” It could be fun.

what’s up with the black T shirt for Joe Dumars… you’d think he’d wear a suit to his own team’s championship game. Then again, the owner is just in his normal street clothes, too. Maybe it’s just the “style” for the Pistons.

I love that line “Celebrate with Dignity” I am going to use it on all my future party invites, especially when I am afraid for the life of my lovely couch
