…Or at least a little less for me. Karen’s “Bad Eating Habits” post below made me think to post about the documentary Super Size Me. I saw it last Sunday night in Northampton. It seems to be playing at a lot of arty places. It’s really good — gross, disgusting, funny, sad, scary, touching, etc. Defintely check it out. Along with Karen’s post, there’s a part where they talk about unhealthy school lunches. They juxtapose it with a school that serves lots of veggies and mainly food they prepare at the school rather than freeze-dried stuff they ship in. It’s an alternative school, mainly with kids who had behaviorial issues in public school. The better diet does seem to actually improve their behavior and academic performace dramatically. See it. Let me know what you think.

Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

I am still planning to go check out fast food nation (chhavi and I talk about it, but it has not happened yet). I really do feel better when I eat good foods, lot of fruit etc. This whole atkins diet is ticking me off, once again people just want an excuse to eat as much crap as they want and not have to exercise. On a side note, I will admit to having serious cravings for In and Out burger, so maybe I should avoid the movie untill I have had my fix?

What is this In and Out burger you speak of?

In -n- Out burger is the best west coast burger chain ever! All they make are burgars, very limited menu, but damn, it is so good (vauge reference to the wonderous qualitys of in and out in The Big Lebowski)
