Assuming the current owners do make it to the broker’s office today, I Heidi and I should have a contract to buy this:
A house… a mortgage… kinda scary stuff.
Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

Old man sujal, that is what we will call you now. You can hang out behind your fence and shake your cane at the “crazy punk kids” that walk by.

Congratulations. You will now be morphing into a tax-hating, lawn mowing suburbanite!
Details? How big? Where? Any redecorating plans?

1792 sq. ft, 4 bedroom (really it’s 3).
we’re planning on doing “stuff” to the house, but we’re not sure what yet.
It’s hard to think of that stuff when you’re trying to get the inspections done and all the pre-closing items taken care of…
