Bush asks for 25 Billion more for Iraq and Afganistan

As much as Kerry is driving me nuts, this kind of garbage from the Bush administration has to stop. Yes, I know war is expensive. I even think that knocking Saddam out of power was a good idea. However, the last appropriation was supposed to last until the end of this year and into the beginning of next year. Now, they say that they need more because of intensified fighting. Sadly, high level Republicans are saying that this 25 billion isn’t even enough.

The reality is that Bush is trying to hide the cost of the war. The administration uses wildly optimistic numbers, then when the truth hits, they wave the banner of patriotism and beg for an emergency appropriation to “support our troops.” Listen morons, if you just used real numbers and didn’t assume that enemy troops would lay down their arms and lick your boots, our troops would have the funding they needed. But no, asking for the money it would really take, all at once, would probably make a few members of the legislative branch, from both sides of the aisle, pause and think…something this administration can’t afford.

Not to mention how much this administration has bungled this war. Everything that has occurred, from looting, to insurgancy, to needing more troops, was predicted by government analysts. Yet, this was all ignored…and publically. Time and time again, this administration has demonstrated its incompetence and inability to seperate reality from their own colored world. For a party that seemed so concerned about the last administrations’ petty lies about where the president put his genitals, they seem remarkably unconcerned about this President’s (and I’ll be generous here and not call them lies) inablity to grip reality and make a good decision.

What it really comes down to, is that the Republican party is more concerned about inflicting Christianity on Americans and overturning Roe V. Wade then they are about anything else. They don’t seem to care about balancing the budget, they don’t seem to care about funding schools, and they don’t care about integrity (the issue they won the election on). The Republican party disgusts me…and in the past, I would have considered myself to be one.
