Isn’t all that great, I have to say. I just tried publishing the following mix just for fun.

The problems are pretty straightforward. The first is that not all those songs are on iTunes. I understand not publishing those but I was surprised at what isn’t there. The last two Everclear albums, for example, aren’t there. The second problem is less forgivable (but again I understand how hard this would be to write). There isn’t a way to resolve songs that might have different title or artist information that ITMS does carry. For example, the Outkast track above is definitely in ITMS but under a different artist… it would be nice to be able to reconcile the list so that I could manually point it at the right track (and ITMS would then update my playlist with their artist information to prevent people from pointing Britney at Rage, for example).

I ran into the same problem when I tried to publish a playlist. I changed the song information until it exactly matched the information on iTunes and it still wouldn’t recognize the song.
They must want to be really sure that you actually have the song on your computer. In theory, if you could just point your song to one on iTunes, you could fake owning a number of songs on a playlist.
I would hope that Apple had bigger concerns than that, however.
