Finally! after running into these crazy cars in Amsterdam, they are finally making an appearance here in Boston. Though they are not being sold yet in the US, they plan to release a bit bigger versions of them here hopefully in the near future:
…when smart does come stateside, it will make its debut with a larger version of the European coupe. Americans will get the formore SUV, with four doors, four seats, all-wheel drive, and even a bit of trunk space.

seems like boston is a less than ideal city to debut the smart car–in my experience, any guy who drives a mini has his sexual orientation questioned, so i can only imagine the comments directed towards those who drive a smaht cah.

Kareem, I’ve never met you, but I’m pretty sure that if I were driving a mini, you’d think I was a dork. And if I was driving a smart car, you’d think I am a geek. How come it’s not possible for me to drive both?

They had the Smart car like “Think” here in NY for awhile. They failed miserably. They were nothing more than a curiousity.

Maid- I agree, I think the Mini is a great car and in Boston it (and the Smart car) make a ton of sense. I was just questioning the wisdom of launching the Smart car in Boston is all

In response to that thought, I too wonder why boston? SOunds like they did try NYC first, and it failed, by then wouldn’t San fran then make more sense? Isn’t that a Hipper place?

The article seemed to imply that they’re showcasing them at all of the major marathons, and don’t plan to actually sell them in the U.S. until 2006…

well, i think they’re adorable and i want one. unfortunately i can’t afford one. hell, i can’t even afford to capitalize my i’s and h’s. anyways, if anyone will buy me one, i’ll let you call me a dork or a geek for the rest of your life. truly. so just do it.
