By now you’ve all probably heard of Danger Mouse’s Grey Album. If you haven’t heard of it, the site describes it best:
The Grey Album is an art project/experiment that uses the full vocal content of Jay-Z’s Black Album recorded over new beats and production made using the Beatles White Album as the sole source material.
There’s an associated controversy, of course, described at Grey Tuesday and at Illegal Art. While I’m not sure I truly get the protest, I wish that EMI and Danger Mouse would figure something out for this album and get it out there. Having had an opportunity to listen to it, the album is fucking amazing. I’m not a Jay-Z fan by any stretch (0 songs by Jay-Z in my iTunes Library out of 2700+ songs ripped from my CDs), and I’ve been listening to this on repeat. December 4th is my favorite track along with Dirt Off Your Shoulder.
EFF has an analysis of the legal issues on their site ([BoingBoing->NerdLaw.org->FatMixx])
You gotta find this album, because it’s worth hearing once.

On this site is a song available for download, called “the only one” it is fantastic, really fun. What I love about this is that after hearing this one song, I am so impressed I would gladly pay The Artist the 10/15 bucks for the whole album, ie.

I honestly wish there was a mechanism that allowed me to directly pay an artist $10-15 for his work. There is a ton of music I would like to buy but am holding off b/c I don’t want to give the RIAA any of my money to sue filesharers. Coldplay’s “A Rush of Blood to the Head” is a disc I would dearly love to have…
