Has anyone seen this? GRAND THEFT AMERICA
And any idea if the numbers are inflated? Any way to fact-check?
Finally, after way too freaking long, Buraka Som Sistema has released their latest album, Black Diamond. The song above, Sound of Kuduro is by far the best on the album, but there are some other nice gems on here. MIA is featured on several tracks, and the rhythm is just addicting. I cannot sit still when this is on.

This is really similar to the article that came out in Mother Jones (I think about) 2 years ago. The one caveat that I know is that the voting habits of those who lost their vote are not definitively known. The odds are extremely good that they were largely democratic votes; those who lost their voting rights were disproportionately black (who are obviously overwhelmingly democrats) and poor. This isn’t the same thing as proof but it’s pretty close. This obviously leaves aside the recount and Pat Buchanan issues that were never resolved…not to mention Nader.

Nader… I’m still annoyed at him for running this year…. I mean, last time at least there was the goal of trying to get the 5% vote total to get federal matching funds the next year… but if he’s running as an independent, wtf?

There’s an interesting potentially related issue. This time there may be a fringe candidate from the right, in addition to Nader on the (mostly) left. Roy Moore, in the papers last year for attempting to keep the ten commandments on display on Alabama state property, is a potential threat to run. This probably has something to do with Bush’s more aggressive stand on gay marriage over the last week. The Christian right was well and truly pissed at Bush’s settling for saying he was “troubled” by gay marriage. There’s a small story on Moore here:
