You can check out all of the IBM Linux Ads on their web site. It’s a pretty good set of commercials. My favorite is “Linux is Everywhere.” Brilliant advertising and the music is perfect for the spot.

The funny thing is that they used a bunch of lines straight from Palin’s Couric interview.

Not sure everyone agrees with you … came across this site this morning … http://www.boycottads.com
too funny … i even saw a Bill Maher piece on the same issue where he also asks “what exactly are these ads selling???”

The ads weren’t for people that didn’t get it.
they were for IT professionals who would be familiar with their advertising and what Linux is. Second of all, teh boycott site is dumb… the ad was about substance. it was about the open nature of Linux… that’s why the ad was powerful. The development model for Linux is open source, which has made for some dramatic shifts in the computer industry.
Ads always require some context to “get” and the ads for Linux from IBM were targeted at people who have that context.
For example, let’s say you never heard of Jimi Hendrix or his music… do you get that Pepsi commercial?
