Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

oh. good to know.
(left party at half-time. Right around when Kid Rock took off his flag and Janet Jackson showed up wearing some sort of “Remember the time” futuristic-flashback dominatrix gear.)

I left at halftime too (Heidi had to get home in time to get to school today). I have to say that I’m bummed I missed the end of the game. Looked like a lot of fun.

I am not sure what was worse, the blantent terrible lip syncing where some tried to sing along but failed badly, or that crazy guy that sang in the begining about love and happiness for the NASA crew.. Ugh!!!!

Your excuses are so much better than mine for why I missed Janet Jackson’s breast. I was serving Cilantro Shrimp with my back to the TV, when I heard a collective gasp. By the time I turned around, the boob was gone.

I have it on Tivo… I saw the boob thing this morning and thought it was pretty stupid all around… both the reaction to it and the actual act itself.
