Team of destiny indeed…

All week I was annoyed that people were calling the Packers a team of destiny… I mean, they went 10-6 and actually required luck to get into the playoffs. New England or Philadelphia had a better claim to that title, both owning home field and having solid winning streaks (New England’s is still going on) after rough starts. Packers were lucky and overachieving, period. In the end, the same problem they had at the start of the season (subpar play by Favre and the receivers) cost them the game in Philly.

I had a lot of fun following the game today, not just because they won. I was visiting my sister in NYC today and ended up watching the start of the game at the ESPNZone in Times Square. I got to hear the HUGE crowd of Packer fans go nuts when the pack scored their first TD. About 45 minutes later, I started listening to the game on the radio on my drive back to WH. Eagles are on their last drive and things aren’t going well. I park the car and decide that I really didn’t want to be in the car when the game was decided. As I walked up, I made myself ready to accept a potential loss by Philadelphia while I was unloading the car. I get upstairs and suddenly they’re on the Packers 26. Few plays, Akers comes in, OT, Favre shows his video game form throwing the pick, Akers, game over. On TV in West Hartford. In a game that started while I was in NYC. :-)

I wish Favre well… but good riddance. Bring on the Panthers!
