One of those mocking, derisive but ultimately silly attacks made by both Giuliani and Palin yesterday had to do with mocking Obama’s time as a community organizers. I’ve read many different posts today defending the work community organizers do but Obama, as you might expect, puts the right perspective on the issue. Steve Benen has more background.
(he slightly misspeaks at the start — it was 20 years ago, not 3).

I think I liked “Imagine” and “In My Country” the best of the first half. I’ll look at the rest after I get some work done

ugh, 15 downloads on 56k, but the quality made it worthwhile.
i liked polygraph, bring ‘em on, and imagine. what are we teaching our children is good too, and in my country is good, if a little predictable.

I totally agree on Imagine. Personally, I love the robin hood one as well. I think that is a great idea for my next halloween costume.

Interesting side note… I was up late last night and around 1AM on some channel (can’t remember if I was watching something or if I just stopped flipping when something finished on my computer) the 700 club came on… and the lead story was about how MoveOn.org was an evil organization because they posted a submitted ad that compared Bush to Hitler. They then had spokesmen from various Jewish organizations (ADL, Simon Wiesenthal center, etc) denouncing this.
The news story didn’t mention that MoveOn.org was accepting submissions and weren’t screening on anything aside from suitability for TV (which I presume to mean no nudity or profanity)… even then, MoveOn.org issued an apology (which they showed on TV).
They then went on to impugn all “liberals” (I’m unsure of what this word means anymore, but in this context I’m pretty sure it meant America-hating-non-Christian-fundies) by saying that liberals engage in more hate speech than the “non-liberals” (otherwise known on the 700 club as “Us” or “we right thinking moral Americans”).
I changed the channel when the head of the Republican party came on saying how these people hate Bush (hmmm he might be right about that). Of course, no coverage about why a sane person would even make the comparison…
I understand that Bush is no Hitler and that Hitler was evil in ways that I hope we’ll never see again. I also understand why those particular organizations are upset by the ad. I also think that the ad creator should’ve chosen a less charged comparison (Stalin maybe? Saddam?). That being said, the ad is a powerful one because the statements that Hitler used to rise to power are eerily similar to the things Bush and Ashcroft are saying now with the Patriot Act and their anti-terrorism war.
Thankfully, our country is in a different place than Germany in the 30’s.

I was recently listening to this talk radio channel, when this woman came on the air and started outright Democrats bashing. I get really tired of hearing this stuff over and over again. Not about their issues really, just about who is the most annoying etc. I found it to be just whinny and black and white (rep good dem bad), not even trying to be objective. At one point there were just callers ringing in to say the equivalent of “I hate democrates”, and see how many dumb nicknames they could give to their personal worst Democrate.

there was an article on salon the other day (http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2004/01/07/moveon_ads/index.html) about the moveon.org - hitler ad thing. it linked to a ny post article (http://nypost.com/seven/01052004/postopinion/opedcolumnists/4965.htm) comparing dean’s campaign to nazi germany, and pointed out the irony in the RNC demanding an apology from moveon, but not from the ny post.
feh.

Ok, I’m sorry but what does Howard Stern have to do with the Democrats again? And how does disliking Stern convince you to vote for Bush? Yeah, I know “dave” will never return to answer these questions, but still… WTF?

Has he watched any other news show in the US. I would bet he watches Fox… I personally really enjoy all of their hate propaganda towards Bush.
