Saw this on Eschaton today: CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) is broadcasting a series called “Deadline: Iraq.” In this series, they’ve interviewed journalists of varying media in order to report on how the war was reported on. The link above goes to the companion web site which contains text of 12 interviews and accompanying materials.

Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

I saw on Sujal’s site today a link to a feature on the CBC website. The CBC interviewed 50+ journalists who were in Iraq about their stories, how they covered the war, and what they were allowed to report back….

Just found out Deadline Iraq is re-airing on Sun. Nov. 30 @ 10 AM on CBC News: Sunday.
