Payal, of all people, forwarded an article from ESPN The Magazine regarding comments from Jan Stephenson that “Asians are killing our tour” (referring to the LPGA). The article is a good read. My take is simply that no one pays attention to Jan Stephenson… I didn’t even know who she was. Heck, the only LPGA players I know are Annika Sorenstam and Michelle Wie. On the other hand, Rush Limbaugh has a certain, uh, notoriety… and he was on national TV front and center. To paraphrase Lessig, a comment in Golf Magazine is not a blast to 20 million people.
So, Payal, what were you doing reading the golf section of ESPN?

Ugh — if you read the article this one links to that details more of what she says — like the need for sex appeal ion women’s golf — man, she is a representation of a sad aspect of civilization. I’m all for sex appeal in itself — but using it to sell a sport — let the athletics speak for themselves. Clearly, this woman is dumb as a doorknob.
