It’s out now at Apple’s iTunes site. I’m downloading now and hope to test it out. Also, they’ve released a gift certificate feature to the ITMS. Even more interesting, they’ve created an “allowance” feature that allows a user to give another user a monthly allowance for music store purchases. Basically an autorenew gift certificate. Great way to encourage parents and teens to work together to legally purchase music.
There are some interesting implications on the allowance feature. For one thing, it means that Apple can guarantee some revenue to the store (each month, certain amounts of money will be spent on ITMS purchases). They also make it easy for kids to buy music without having to have their parent’s credit card or an unlimited spending limit.
This is a cool feature (yeah, I know it’s pretty simple).
They also added audiobooks. I wonder if they have Rendezvous support built in? Hmmmm….
Update: It does! It does! I’m now streaming music from my G5 to my windows laptop at work ![]()

UGH! It’s only compatible with Windows 2000 and XP. I’m running ME. And I *refuse* to pay Microsoft an upgrade fee. Grrr…

The best part is I have bullied quite a few people into downloading this and sharing their music, so now I have a new range of tunes! I also am quite found of their radios.
