I dyed my hair the other week and it has turned out a lot darker than on the cover of the box. I have been reading a lot of comments and a lot of helpful information. I am thinking about using the dish washing liquid but I live in Spain and I don't think we have Dawn liquid. Will Fairy Liquid do? I look really pale in color and really want to know if I can just simply put another lighter hair dye on straight away. What is anyone's advice?

You can color your hair the following day especially if you are going darker. Do me a favor though go to a professional colorist before you have a extremely expensive corrective color on your hands.

Well here's the results, washed out the baking soda and Dawn, then soaked my head in conditioner, rinsed, hair is still black, but doesn't seem as black, can see some brown, and can see some of the grey I was trying to cover up. Plan to wash my hair everyday for awhile. If you need to take cemicals out of your hair, use Dawn dish soap, and lots of conditioner after wards. Hope this helps someone.

I dyed my dark brown hair for the frist time this morning. It turned out BLACK, I used Dawn dish soap to wash some of the color out, and it did work a little, right now I am sitting here with baking soda and Dawn on my head. Will let you know how it turns out. My ADVICE to all, check the color every 5 mins, (if not sooner) if it looks like it is turning to dark get it off your head ASAP, I should have washed it out after 10 mins. instead of the 30 it called for.

Ive been looking through this for awhile but i cant find an anwser for what i should do.
my hair was died blonde over the summer, its damaged. I have naturally very dark dair, so
i fgured insead of spending money constantly to dye it blonde, why not dye it black
and let it grow out? excep tthat yes, it is black, but it is fading in places back to blonde! i would love for my hair to be bonde again, or just healthy looking, i have probably two inches or roots that arent blonde under the black. any suggestions? it looks.. not so great.

-YOU THINK YOUR'S IS BAD? CHECK OUT THIS!***
My natural hair color is a tone of brown that im not quite sure of.
as you can tell, i have been dyeing my hair for a long time.
My hair has been dyed a super light blonde for about 6 months now.
I told my friends that i want something different, but not a major change.
One of my friends told me that she could put a couple differnet colors of
highlights in it. I said okay. She told me she would put a light brown, a
redish brown and a dark brown. A couple pf days later she went a bought the
die. The next day i went over to her house and she began dying my hair.
1st she put in another blonde to fix my roots. Then she put dark brown on
the whole bottom portion of my hair. Later on we rinsed that out and it looked
pretty good. Then She put highlights on the top layer of my hair. She put in
dark brown, left some blonde, light brown and red. I had a good feeling that
everything was going to turn out awesome! Later on we rinsed that out and
she blow-dryed it. It was a mess! I wanted to cry. It turned out pink,
purple, green and alot of dark brown. I looked like a joke. Then
a couple days later, my mom tryed fixing it by dyeing it light brown. It turned
dark brown on top, and through the middle of my hair were some shades of blonde,
and light brown, and some of the pink stayed in. Tonight will be the first time to
see my friends, & go to school for a potluck dinner, and i am so emmbarresed of my hair.
My mom is going to try to buy blonde highlights with the cap to put in before the dinner.
Im hopeing it turns out alright. i have school tommarrow, and hope it look better
by then or i dont even want to show my face in school. i mean, will it
even take, with all the chemicals aready in my hair?
im an in need of so much help! please this is awful!

omg, im so depserate someone tell me what to do. ok so, about 6 months ago my hair was permaentley dyed a deep dark brown, and overtime it has faded into a light brown with an orange tinge. i always get it done at the hairdresses so they could dye over it with a natural brown color to cover the orange, but it always comes back when ive had several showers. im so sick of going back there and doing the same routeen, when the orange tinge comes back over and over again. Im thinking to get my hair stripped, but what will happen if a light color is stripped? im so annoyed and fed up! by the way, my hair is a naturally mousey brown. someone help please!!!!!!!

I am a strawberry blond. I dyed my hair black - for a theatre production - and now, months later, after several DIY color removers and attempts to fix it at home, it is splotchy looking with stripes in it- a reddish color, but definitely splotchy looking and still very dark underneath. I went to a salon to have it fixed and it will cost upwards of $300. Not a lot of options up here in Alaska, but I'm going to be my friend's matron of honor, and want to look nice, even presentable. Any (cheaper) suggestions for getting rid of said splotchiness?
Thanks so much in advance!!

to all of you who died your hair and the roots turned out lighter or orange,
this has happened to me several times even thou i am dying my natural hair color. do not re-dye your whole head as you will fry your hair get clairol root touchup kit in the color that most closely matches your hair color. this has worked for me very well. and from now on i will take the advice of two people (one of whom is in cosmetology school) to die the ends first and work toward the roots doing them last. the color developes faster at the roots because of the heat from your scalp. i'll let you know if it doesn't work.i have repeated some but not all of this. this has happened to me several times even thou i am dying my natural hair color. do not re-dye your whole head as you will fry your hair get clairol root touchup kit in the color that most closely matches your hair color. this has worked for me very well. and from now on i will take the advice of two people (one of whom is in cosmetology school) to die the ends first and work toward the roots doing them last. the color developes faster at the roots because of the heat from your scalp. i’ll let you know if it doesn’t work.i have repeated some but not all of this.
kris, i fried my hair many years ago. i tried all kinds if professional conditioners and hot oil reatmants to no avail. i finally had to have all the damaged hair cut off. once hair is damaged like that, cutting it is the best thing to do or it will continue to split up the shaft of your hair. grt a short hair cut magazine and find a cut you like - there are alot of cute, sophisticated and sexy ones. Then go to a reliable hair stylist. i have had the same stylist for 22 years so that helped.

in response to xoxo,
i dont know about green highlights, but i have had friend with all blonde hair use sun-in to get the green out. i bout the gel a couple of years ago to highlight my hair, which is dark brown. and you can control where you put it. then you have to go out out in the sun or to a tanning booth. the change is gradual so you can repeat until you get the desired effect.

Hello,
I need some help/advice please. I have purchased the Redken Shades EQ 09N Cafe Au Lait, but I wasn't sure how to use it (do you use it full strength or need something to mix with it?)

Thanks

I have natural Silver hair, since I am only 33 and I am completely Silver I dyed my Hair Back to my old natural color a dark brown almost black. My hair has become damaged from all the dyeing so I want to let it grow out. But......Silver roots and Dark Brown hair looks terrible and my hair is very long. I dont want to cut it, is there any way to lighten or strip/remove the darker color out and go back to my natural silver without damaging my hair to the point of no return? Some one please help. Thanks

I have colored my hair black, and was thinking of getting light blonde highlights, but i have gone
to so many salons that dont want to do it cause they say my hair will be ruin. What can I do to get them right and the color that I want?

oh, and just so you all know it is probably a good idea to bleach the parts of your hair you use these dyes on- then they'll be really bright. there's plenty of tips on the site about repairing damage from bleaching and getting dye to stick longer too

ok, the quickest way to get rid of unwanted hair colour is by these things called colour strippers, but i wouldnt recommend them since they can do real damage to your hair. Try washing it as often as possible, since semi parmenent fades a little with every shampoo. A little trick of the trade: try rinsing your hair in diet coke once a week. I stress it has to be DIET or your hair will fall out and that not good :) If you do that your colour should be gone in a couple of weeks.

Also, for all you who want really bright coloured hair I recommend this site: especially the Special Effects and Manic Panic semi permanent dyes, they really are amazing and delivery is nice and quick too.

Hope this helps :D
