OK, so I lost a bet to my hockey team, and I need to dye my goatee/mustache purple. It’s temporary; I plan to shave it off the next day. But I have never dyed my hair, and I desperately need help/guidance. Please chime in!

Looks like a performance at NYU (where she was a student for a few years). She really can sing (though she has a few misses playing the piano). There’s talent there, covered these days in a blond wig/hairdo and heavy makeup. Do your best to ignore the goofy MC, if you can.

What is the phone number for Loreal hair color hotline?
December 31st, 2007 at 12:51 PM
12/31/07
Master Hair Colorist:
I have used Loreal twice in the past week for an overall haircoloring, instead of former high lights, and now I have brite orange roots.
How do I get rid of them? I fist applied (for darker blonde hair) and Loreal 9/12NB (a week ago) and got orange roots.
Then, to try to cover up the orange roots and base, I used LB02 Extra Light Naural Blonde, and this color that I prefer to continue to use, I liked the overall color, but I still have orange roots.
I left the color on longer (as my high lighter used to) and I got the overall color of hair that I wanted, I just can’t seem to get all the root orange out.
Please advise, I dont’ want to go back to work with orange roots next week.
Please respond to my email address only and do not publish that address.
Thanks you.

Ok so I have pretty dark brown hair. But I’ve always wanted to see what it would look blond. What I want is a GOOD RELIABLE *WASH OUT* hair dye. Like the kind where after you wash it, it will come out. Is this possible to go from brunette to blond? WASH OUT? If not, a color similar to blond that is wash out? Please reply asap. Thanks…

I put Garnier nutrisse on my hair, dark brown, my hair is naturally medium brown, it all went dark brown apart from the roots which stayed a lighter ginger, i re did the roots but still lighter than the rest and definately not dark brown! why wont my roots take??
March 18th, 2008 at 3:12 PM
Ok- so NO ONE has figured out how to get rid of orange roots for us??? Or why a color wont take to roots? Please help us out here! I had a weekend from HELL last weekend- I decided got get Natural Instincts w/ a hint of red to do my roots on my hair which was a strawberry blondish color– ok , so i did my roots w/ that and they turned ORANGE!!! Or even Bright RED!! Granted, my hairs is colored – but the color was compleley diff from what was on the box! So, I had a PARTY to go to and was sooooo embarassed for myself! I got through it and on the way home fr the party i stopped and bought bleach- so i bleached my ORANGE/RED roots- and they toned down a little- but my hair is like a yellow florscent lightbulb on top! I NEED HELP and DONT WANT MY HAIR TO FALL OUT!! I am so dissapointed in myself for the madness w/ the hair situation– The hair dresser told me to not do anything- so, I’m going to try dawn dishwashing liquid on my hair, then wash with the silver shampoo- and keep it on for a bit- then wash it out and condition the heck out of it.. I will let you all know how it goes- Desperate in NH –

About three days ago me and my fiance decided hey what the hell lets bleach my medium brown hair blonde ourselves. Now I had dyed my hair diffrent shades of red at home several times in the past so that kind of freaked me out. But hey the new growth goes down below my ear so i said what the hell. BAD idea. I did like the directions said and I put the bleach on first at the bottom where the old colored area was, then I moved it up to about 1cm from my scalp, then moved onto my roots.
Well the test strip came out nice looking but my whole head looked horrible. Thenew growth was yellow and the old dyed hair was bright red. So out to the store to buy another bleach kit. Even worse, now its bright yellow on top and slightly less red on the bottom. A couple days later bleaching number 3. It was bearable but still bad customers were making fun of me at work and old people were giving me dirty looks.
Thankfully on a random trip to walgreens at 2am I found something that made my hair look amazing. After 2 applications my hair looks like a normal blonde. The bottom is still slightly darker than the roots but not bad.
So to all of you who ended up with super brassy hair I reccomend either going to sallys first and buying a red corrector that you add to the bleach or you can do what I did and buy a bottle of Fanci-Full. I got the light blonde one and im thrilled. Its this dark purpleish liquid you put into your hair after a shower. Just soak your hair in it, comb it through, wait and wow absolutly no brassiness. Best random 2am trip I ever took.
March 29th, 2008 at 2:28 PM
Pam,
The Fanci-Full product I used is completly safe to use on super processed hair. There is no ammonia or anything else like that in it. In fact its suppose to condition your hair. If you’re brassy, orange or red this product should really help you like it helped me

My hair has been dark brown for a year now and am desperate for a change. I would love to have medium-dark blonde hair with little highlights through but i am scared that if i go to a hair dressers, get it stripped and then died, it will turn orange. Is it even posssible to go dark blonde from dark brown? Is there an easier way to get blonde from my hair colour?
Help pleaseee.

ive dyed my hair a few times this year and the last i had it was close to my natural color w/ blonde highlights. soon, people said my highlights had a tint of green in them! so, 2 days ago, i dyed my hair to what i thought would be close to my natural color, but it turned dark brown and greenish! so i went to sallys and the lady said to dye it again and put red in it it counteract the green. so i did so and everyone says it has a noticeable tint of green to it! i can’t stand it like this, and my hair is too damaged to dye again. is there anything i can do for it not to be green?

If my my hair dye instructions says to not use a plastic cap over. whats happens if I do? How do I make sure my hair turns out like the color on the box?
June 23rd, 2008 at 12:08 AM
Okay, so I just dyed the ends of my hair hot pink. I really like it and everything. It’s just that I am in high school, and they do not allow that color hair to be worn to school. School starts in less than a month and a half, and my dye is semi-permanent, but someone said on a previous website that it wouldn’t even wash out if it was semi=permanent…that the only way to get rid of it is to cut it, and my hair is not the length I want it to be cutting it out.
HELP!
June 28th, 2008 at 1:13 PM
ok, the quickest way to get rid of unwanted hair colour is by these things called colour strippers, but i wouldnt recommend them since they can do real damage to your hair. Try washing it as often as possible, since semi parmenent fades a little with every shampoo. A little trick of the trade: try rinsing your hair in diet coke once a week. I stress it has to be DIET or your hair will fall out and that not good
If you do that your colour should be gone in a couple of weeks.
Also, for all you who want really bright coloured hair I recommend this site: especially the Special Effects and Manic Panic semi permanent dyes, they really are amazing and delivery is nice and quick too.

Hope this helps

oh, and just so you all know it is probably a good idea to bleach the parts of your hair you use these dyes on- then they’ll be really bright. there’s plenty of tips on the site about repairing damage from bleaching and getting dye to stick longer too

if you want to get rid of some color or lighten your hair, use baking soda. mix it in with your shampoo and rub it in ytour hair and let it sit.
make sure when you’re done though to LATHER it with conditioner and let it sit for 5-10 minutes :]
hope this helps!

in response to xoxo,
i dont know about green highlights, but i have had friend with all blonde hair use sun-in to get the green out. i bout the gel a couple of years ago to highlight my hair, which is dark brown. and you can control where you put it. then you have to go out out in the sun or to a tanning booth. the change is gradual so you can repeat until you get the desired effect.

kris, i fried my hair many years ago. i tried all kinds if professional conditioners and hot oil reatmants to no avail. i finally had to have all the damaged hair cut off. once hair is damaged like that, cutting it is the best thing to do or it will continue to split up the shaft of your hair. grt a short hair cut magazine and find a cut you like – there are alot of cute, sophisticated and sexy ones. Then go to a reliable hair stylist. i have had the same stylist for 22 years so that helped.

to all of you who died your hair and the roots turned out lighter or orange,
this has happened to me several times even thou i am dying my natural hair color. do not re-dye your whole head as you will fry your hair get clairol root touchup kit in the color that most closely matches your hair color. this has worked for me very well. and from now on i will take the advice of two people (one of whom is in cosmetology school) to die the ends first and work toward the roots doing them last. the color developes faster at the roots because of the heat from your scalp. i’ll let you know if it doesn’t work.

I am a strawberry blond. I dyed my hair black – for a theatre production – and now, months later, after several DIY color removers and attempts to fix it at home, it is splotchy looking with stripes in it- a reddish color, but definitely splotchy looking and still very dark underneath. I went to a salon to have it fixed and it will cost upwards of $300. Not a lot of options up here in Alaska, but I’m going to be my friend’s matron of honor, and want to look nice, even presentable. Any (cheaper) suggestions for getting rid of said splotchiness?
Thanks so much in advance!!

omg, im so depserate someone tell me what to do. ok so, about 6 months ago my hair was permaentley dyed a deep dark brown, and overtime it has faded into a light brown with an orange tinge. i always get it done at the hairdresses so they could dye over it with a natural brown color to cover the orange, but it always comes back when ive had several showers. im so sick of going back there and doing the same routeen, when the orange tinge comes back over and over again. Im thinking to get my hair stripped, but what will happen if a light color is stripped? im so annoyed and fed up! by the way, my hair is a naturally mousey brown. someone help please!!!!!!!

-YOU THINK YOUR’S IS BAD? CHECK OUT THIS!***
My natural hair color is a tone of brown that im not quite sure of.
as you can tell, i have been dyeing my hair for a long time.
My hair has been dyed a super light blonde for about 6 months now.
I told my friends that i want something different, but not a major change.
One of my friends told me that she could put a couple differnet colors of
highlights in it. I said okay. She told me she would put a light brown, a
redish brown and a dark brown. A couple pf days later she went a bought the
die. The next day i went over to her house and she began dying my hair.
1st she put in another blonde to fix my roots. Then she put dark brown on
the whole bottom portion of my hair. Later on we rinsed that out and it looked
pretty good. Then She put highlights on the top layer of my hair. She put in
dark brown, left some blonde, light brown and red. I had a good feeling that
everything was going to turn out awesome! Later on we rinsed that out and
she blow-dryed it. It was a mess! I wanted to cry. It turned out pink,
purple, green and alot of dark brown. I looked like a joke. Then
a couple days later, my mom tryed fixing it by dyeing it light brown. It turned
dark brown on top, and through the middle of my hair were some shades of blonde,
and light brown, and some of the pink stayed in. Tonight will be the first time to
see my friends, & go to school for a potluck dinner, and i am so emmbarresed of my hair.
My mom is going to try to buy blonde highlights with the cap to put in before the dinner.
Im hopeing it turns out alright. i have school tommarrow, and hope it look better
by then or i dont even want to show my face in school. i mean, will it
even take, with all the chemicals aready in my hair?
im an in need of so much help! please this is awful!
