In another sign that Innovation begins on the Mac, a few months ago someone posted a new product coming from Macromedia to the Watson Developer mailing list. Macromedia Central looks an awful lot like Sherlock, which looks an awful lot like Watson.

Music with cellos always win, even when the cellos aren’t really full cellos. The instrumentation on this song is actually pretty phenomenal. The entire album is pretty good, too.

A) Joel is, uh, overrated.
B) He used to work for Microsoft
C) He has a point in this case. I would argue, however, that Macintosh users are more likely as a whole to open up their wallets. It’s also a friendlier platform for small application developers. Look at the vibrant mac sub-$30 software market. There are dozens of great applications that just don’t exist on the PC side of things.
So, joel is right… if you’re a Microsoft, Disney (ESPN) or whatever. On the other hand, if you’re a smallerdeveloper, you have a decent opportunity on the Mac side of thngs. If you’re interested in certain demographics, then the Mac is also better… remember that people on the Mac side want top of the line stuff (That’s why there is no sub-$500 Mac)… and they spend to get it. That’s generally a good thing.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again… Apple is like BMW or Mercedes in the computer market. It doesn’t need to be 50% of the market to be successful.
