Payal just forwarded me a NYTimes article about Trader Joes.. They’re getting popular.

Looks like a performance at NYU (where she was a student for a few years). She really can sing (though she has a few misses playing the piano). There’s talent there, covered these days in a blond wig/hairdo and heavy makeup. Do your best to ignore the goofy MC, if you can.

Trader Joes is great in tucson especially the store at campbell and limberlost, which has the standard of excellence with enough roomy parking, and roomy isles. the other stores are so cramped, but all have good stuff and mostly great help but for the mgmt
named Shawn Pearson at Grant and Swan. the one on Speedway and limberlost have great demos and the one on Grant does the simple stuff like put cheese on a cracker. I buy what is good and demonstated. so I think the one on Grant should put more effort into food preperation, but the good thing is a guy named Marcus. He can make the most mundane thing seem like a gourmet delight. Parking at this one on Grant is deplorable. the one on speedway is a little better and the one on campbell and limberlost is great. I was dismayed to find out that the sotres are owned by two German billionaires and so there goes our US money again. Still it is a good store .

I dont think they are going to florida now because the state has a law you must buy wine from a distributor and trader joes likes to self distribute.

PLEEEEEEEZZZZ – We really need a TJs in the Denver area. I moved away from an area that had 3 TJs in the area, to an area that has none. And of all places, one would think that Colorado would be an area that they would want to have stores. Everyone here is very health and environmentally conscious…
Just wish I could find a contact address or phone number for them. Very disappointing.

How can we get you to open a Trader Joes in Prescott, AZ?
July 7th, 2005 at 5:38 PM
Does anyone know about TJ’s Omega-3 oil. Long time user, but recent info concerning autism/mercury connection leads me to be concerned about giving it to my daughter who is ‘on the spectrum’. Label says they process to remove mercury– but didn’t know how carfully this is done.

You have Trade Joe in Atlanta Georga?
If not, then are you planning to open one?

We’re moving to Jackson, NJ in Northern Ocean County near Monmouth County. No Trader Joes for at least 45 miles. The Howell area is an up and coming retail mecca and would be perfect. Lots of new residential development. Please consider this area for a new store!

I work at Trader Joe’s. Trader Joe’s is neck and neck with Whole Foods Grocery. The difference between them and us is that they are a shareholder company and we are a private company. We buy everything in cash. Trader Joe’s is owned by two brothers in Germany named the Albrechts. Occasionally, they make visits to the US to check up on our stores. They are fascinating people who also run a huge company in Germany called “Aldi”. It is a store with a Costco style setup selling 700 bulk products in 2,000 plus locations raking in more than 35 billion dollars annually.
The reason I love working with Trader Joes is the fact I get to interact with customers on a relationship level. It is a place I am free to challenge myself. I stand behind our products 200%. Besides selling popular foods, we thrive for community involvement and love to support non-prof. organizations of all kinds. Food that is in our judgment not meeting quality we want to portray to our customers is donated to various community centers. It is a growing company established on a foundation of good principles and I pride in being apart of its team and hope to continue being one of its running players for the long haul.

Please, Please bring a Trader Joes to Knoxville Tenn. There are many many families here from elswhere, ie the north, the west etc. who are used to having the neighborhood TJ’s. I would shop with you for everything but produce (which is too expensive).
July 19th, 2005 at 5:07 PM
this is a response to your ukiah request. we will never open in ukiah. it is too far away from our stockton wherehouse. if we did prices would probably rise due to the drive for the trucks. you should just shop at trader joes petaluma. we have a great store. much better than santa rosa. good luck with your request. also we only occupy old stores. we do not build from scratch. Just keep writing letters to the company.

When will you build a Trader Joes out toward Huntley/Lake in the Hills/Algonquin, Illinois? The area is growing unbelievably and there are lots of stores. Trader Joes here would be awesome. There are many young families/okder retirees also, that are health conscious and would love to have a store closer in the area.

Would TJs sell items in bulk to individuals? I’m looking to fill containers full of non-perishable TJ products for shipping overseas. Would a store give me problems if I just went in and started clearing out shelves?

Trader Joes should consider Montgomery, AL. It is an area primed for such a store.

Trader Joes has no GMO’s, per a Greenpeace update from more than a year ago.
I am dissapointed that they discontinued their Papaya Nectar, which was always very good, but are continuing to sell their Mango Nectar, which the last two times I tried it tasted rotten (and there were black spots on the bottoms of the bottles to boot).

Please, please, please, please open a store in Metro Atlanta!!! I used to live in Boston, and I really, really miss Trader Joe’s. I miss it so much, I would even brave the traffic on 400 and drive all the way into Buckhead!

ditto on the need for Trader Joes in Miami! Just moved from California and going through some serious withdrawals, how do we contac them????
September 21st, 2005 at 11:58 PM
I second LIZ! Miami / South Florida desperately needs a TJ’s! No matter what city I go to I check to see if there’s a TJ’s anywhere in close proximity. I know all 3 TJ’s in Vegasm have been to many in CA, MA, CT, MD and others. When I hit one while on a trip, gosh knows if something happens to the plane and we survive, we’d survive on the food I always bring back in my suitcase and on board luggage. Should anyone be coming to visit Miami from an area that has a TJ’s they KNOW they better ask what I need before they come down.
I promise, I’ll be your best customer

No Trader Joe’s in Florida. I’m really sad. =o(

Reading the posts, I feel bad for those who have no TJ’s in their city. I guess I’m spoiled in San Francisco. I thought walking a mile to the wharf TJ’s and taking the $5.00 trolly up the hill was an inconvenience, so I was considering requesting a new store be built where Cala Foods is closing, down a block from me. After reading these posts, I realize there are other’s in dire need and perhaps I shouldn’t request TJ’s to build a 4th store in San Francisco — because it wouldn’t be fair.

We need TJ’s down here in the Bonita Springs, Naples, Fort Myers area of Florida. So many of us are crying out to have this store part of our community. Our friends have to send us “care packages”!!!!
Need to send Corporate Headquarters tons of mail.

Vote for a Trader Joe’s in Nashville, TN

Take heart all you Floridians … I have some great news for you Trader Joe’s fanatics, like myself. A warehouse facility is in the works in Atlanta. Once it’s completed, it’s just a matter of time and they’ll be heading south from there. The warehouse will supply the southeastern seaboard. Hopefully, they won’t forget us in the Fort Myers, Bonita Springs & Naples areas. We desperately need the quality and pricing second to none!!! Can’t wait to be able to once again shop for great foods. I used to work for TJ’s in Massachusetts … great job, great benefits, great people, fabulous offerings!!! I’ll be the first in line to sign on to work there again doing food demonstrations. Let’s keep our fingers crossed & pray.

I have a dear friend who worked at a TJ’s for awhile and told me something I find very upsetting. First of all, I do love the stores and shop regularly in them, but she said at the end of the day so much food is thrown away. Why? Every city, every town has a food bank, for goodness sake. She said the amount of food actually disposed of each day is huge! For a company that considers itself community oriented, I find this very odd. Any explanations from anyone working from the company?

Maybe people should stay in CA if they miss TJs so much.
January 19th, 2008 at 10:13 PM
they treat their employees poorly..they are a huge mega company making tons of money. that s not so bad, but I think they have good PR. But, the fact remains, they are not very progressive in temrs of their values. again, good at PR but they are very bottom line and staff are easy to replace and work till they are totally burned out.
Most of the items they have are just so-so. Some are good, I’ll give them credit for their pricing. Why dont they pass along some of their ricches to their hard working staff?
