I’m not sure if anyone else was following this. The only reason I know about it is because I read Boston’s IndyMedia site. Projectionists at the Somerville theatre were on strike (then were locked out) protesting efforts by the owner to fight their efforts to organize into a union. They were also looking for better wages, better hours, and health benefits and vacation for full time employees. You can read the press release at the web site. It’s a bit over the top, but you get the general drift.

I’m posting this just because it’s interesting to see that this type of unionization still happens at the local level. Generally, when you think of unionized workforces, you think of larger organizations: big factories, hospitals, government agencies. In this case, it was a smaller group of people with real, pressing needs. Health insurance is a good thing.
